Proper care for your hat ...
Here are some tips for properly caring for your new hat.
- Always handle your hat by its crown.
- When you sit your hat down, place it on a flat surface upside down, resting on it's crown, or hang it on a hatrack. When using a hatrack, make sure the hat hangs straight without touching the wall or pole.
- The best manner to store a hat is in a hat can. You can order a hat can from us by specifying that when you place the order for your hat.
- Don't leave your hat in the sun for extended periods of time when not in use or in extreme temperatures. Both can cause shrinkage and affect it's shape.
- Brushing your hat off regularly will keep dirt from getting into the felt of the hat. If your hat becomes stained or too dirty to brush clean, it will require renovation by a professional. Note that some stains are not removable.
- Hat sponges are available on request, however a standard sea sponge is sufficient. Sea sponges are available at both hardware and crafts stores. When brushing your hat, use a circular motion, working from inside outwards to the brim.
- If your hat gets wet, shake off the excess water and try to wear it dry. This will prevent shrinkage and help the hat retain it's shape. Do not use any type of heat to dry your hat.
